Here at Liverpool Homeless Football Club, we are eyeing a speedy start to 2018 with a fundraising drive. As you may be aware, we are an award-winning FA chartered Football Club which helps citizens of Merseyside. Many of our members struggle with homelessness, drug addiction, violence, legal issues, personal issues and a great deal more. We have launched a brand new website to take donations and we are thankful to report that in the first two weeks of the year the website has already generated more than £200 in contributions from supporters.
Reaction from LHFC
CEO of LHFC John Finnigan is delighted with the support for the campaign so far. He stated that “We focus almost all of our fundraising on supporting our members. So there was never anything left in the pot to try something different. We knew that we needed to spread the word about our projects further afield and to raise money online. Then just before Christmas we were lucky enough to attract support from Turtle Media to get us up and running. Winning their competition for a free website has been a dream for us and will make a huge difference to our efforts going forward”.
Merseyside web design and search engine marketing firm Turtle Media ran the competition via their social media pages and attracted attention from Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson who promoted the competition on Twitter. From 21 entries, the lucky winner was LHFC. They had been trying to secure funding for a new website for over five years.
The new website https://liverpoolhomelessfootballclub.com/ launched on Christmas Eve and has allowed the charity to spread the word about what they do and also invite online donations, a facility they haven’t had before and which they are hoping will help them raise over £1000 over the next twelve months.
Stephen McConville, one of the owners of Turtle Media said that “Here at Turtle Media we had a great start to the year in 2017 and we wanted to give something back to our community. Running the competition for a completely free website put us in touch with lots of worthy organisations. However, it was LHFC who had the most support within the community. We have nothing but admiration for the work that these guys do. We are very proud to have been able to help in any way that we can.”
LHFC have a number of celebrity supporters including John Bishop who is a patron of the charity. John talks about the important work of the club, in a short video on the website. Turtle Media have pledged to continue to support LHFC throughout 2018 and help with fundraising via the website.
