Firstly, a massive big thank you to everyone who supported the LHFC Easter Egg appeal once again the response was terrific, your generosity was overwhelming, and your donations were truly appreciated. Thank you to all our valued volunteers who helped the Easter Bunny to deliver over 800 gifts to children across Merseyside.
April has been another busy month for LHFC as we had an Executive meeting at the Liverpool County FA. Top of the agenda was our Women’s programs and our Futsal registration. We were also able to confirm the date for our Women Against Domestic Abuse Cup 2018 #WADA18. We have great interest in this tournament and feedback from previous years is very positive. So mark 19th June 2018 in your diaries.

Coach Jess and I have been very busy contacting hostels across the City and arranging visits to engage with more women. Our aim is to enrol them on to our programmes. I would really like to stress that LHFC is “More than just football”. We aim to empower women and help them take control of their lives.
Women’s Programmes
Our Friday @the Florrie sessions include mindfulness and yoga with our relaxation coach Eve as well as fitness classes and team building exercises. A healthy lunch is provided free of charge, and free transport is provided to and from the hostels.
The woman’s Futsal is now in full swing and Fran, and I went along to Anfield sports & community centre on 10th May 2018 to show our support for the team. They were playing The Farmers and LHFC were beaten 15-8 in a high tempo game with both teams showing great passion and determination. Well done to both teams and good luck for your next match. It was great to have a catch up some old faces, thank you Stacey for standing in as player/coach.
Thanks must go to Trusthouse Charitable Foundation whose generous grant enables us to deliver our women’s programmes.
Matchday 2
“The Spirit of Merseyside League” was a great success and huge praise should go to our volunteers from both Hope and John Moore’s universities. The theme of the day was raising awareness to Men’s health on world health day. LiveWire Liverpool were in attendance and with the help of our volunteers were able to complete several questionnaires, administer simple one to one health checks and offer advice on positive changes in routine and lifestyle. Thank you to Vivien Graham and her health visitor team, who engaged with hostel support workers. They arranged follow up appointments for those players who are keen to improve their overall health and well-being. We are awaiting confirmation from our Liverpool County FA colleagues as to the fixtures and league table. We will publish them on the website and our social media pages as soon as we can.
Meanwhile we are looking forward to Match Day 3 on 29th May so again add this date to your diary. The theme of the day will be to raise awareness of Lung disease, Asthma & COPD. We have secured the services of the NHS Stop Smoking Team who will support those who wish to quite.
