Ladies say no to Domestic Abuse!

On Tuesday 2nd June the Power league on Whittle street was as busy as ever,  The pitches were full of footballers even despite the stormy weather.

However this was a tournament raising awareness around domestic Abuse.

Working with Liverpool County FA, The tournament is in its third year and 16 teams competed for two trophies.

The day began with Liverpool Ladies stars,  Tasha Dowie and Becky easton, along with Everton Ladies stars Paige willliams and Jess King, launching the tournament with Ballons of Hope.

The day began with teams split into two leagues, Merseyside police, st Julies, etc the teams who play regulary in one  leauge and teams who had not played before such as Adelaide House,  Shap Elizabeth Arden House, Addaction.

Moorecrofts solicitors sponsored the Adelaide House team, wearing t shirts with no to Domestic abuse , and the rest going to Merseyside domestic Violence service.

The football began, and even deputy Mayor and deputy Police crime commissioner Ann O Byrne pulled on a kit.

The football came and the Football went  congratulations to the allo teams especially  Kidsgrove athletic and LHFC who won the two trophies.

The day was also the culmination of four tournaments run with liverpool County FA, and Anne marie Wild from Addaction won player of the year for her efforts all year.

LHFC ladies team were all awarded  medals for representing LHFC all season in Futsal.

Sarah Barr our super keeper won the players player of the year while Jess Brumskill won coaches player of the year.


On  the day the message went out no to Domestic abuse.

Big thanks also to Graham Stuart EFC legend who came and presented medals  and Morecrofts and Food for all who sponsored the goody bags.
