LHFC lost our unbeaten start to the season today with a 5-0 home defeat against 2nd place Mount Athletic .
Billed as the game of the day as Mount were 2nd and LHFC were third , Mount were a very good side and finished third in this league last year.
With a depleted squad LHFC had just the minimum 11 players , missing Ray Dermott, Tony Gray and Joey Savin the spine of the team was missing amongst others , however the game saw influential midfielder Craig Jenkins play for a full 90 minutes.
Early on in the game Mount took a 2-0 lead and as the game went on LHFC became more involved , with chances both sides, Half time saw Mount winning 2-0
Second Half LHFC began brighter and created more chances however could not find the net, half way through the second half an own goal following a mount corner , gave the visitors a three goal cushion. Despite LHFC creating a few chances, Lee Green in goal, kept LHFC alive with a string of superb saves. Mount added another two before the final whistle.
While the scoreline did not reflect the game with the resources available to Carl today nonetheless the players showed real character and team spirit even in defeat!
