Liverpool Homeless Football Club were once again part of Liverpool’s annual Brazilian festival! The festival is the UK’s largest Samba Carnival event and this is the third year running that LHFC have taken part.
The festival has something for everyone including music dance, art, sport, culture, food and film for the whole family. Football fans were treated with the Brazilica 2012 Soccer Zone. On Saturday 14th July, Soccer Zone members of the public were invited to come and show off their skills or just watch the fun between 12 and 6pm at the new site in Clayton Square.
Together with partners Liverpool Football Club, AFC Liverpool, Brazilian Soccer Schools and Liverpool Homelessness Football Club, Brazilica 2012 recreated the electric atmosphere of a Brazilian sports arena in Clayton Square. The event was hosted by Juice FM favourite Baz Todd.
The Soccer Zone was manned dutifully by LHFC volunteers; Steve Barton, Steve Hawkins, Craig Meddings and Gary Thomas. They hosted a range of football activities including skill-based coaching sessions, family fun penalty shoot-outs, as well as freestyle competitions. A Lucas Leiva signed football shirt raised £500 for the festival charity.
The photos were taken by LHFC official photographer Chris McIntyre.
