Volunteering can be Fun!
Students are you seeking opportunities to support a local organisation? Liverpool Homeless Football Club which has been established since 2007 supporting the less fortunate in our great city. Become part of an organisation that is a supporter for change to social injustices that are happening all around us. We have worked with students from most major education establishments in the city and beyond. Whether it be volunteering or helping them with research opportunities, there will be a chance to help. We run regular match-days, the main one where we try to get most people together is the last Tuesday of the month at the Powerleague all weather soccer pitches in Kirkdale, 2 Whittle St, Liverpool L5 2SQ. LHFC also have training sessions, and women's indoor and outdoor soccer sessions. Our motto is #more than just football and we use many means to engage with people who may be going through a rough time. We work with anybody that needs our help. We believe that you can use sport as a vehicle for change and engagement. A lot of people that suffer traumas and crises can find it difficult to engage, and we try to give them opportunities to do that. Through our walk and talk sessions, yoga classes, drop in football sessions, one to one support and teaching opportunities we can engage on a level that our clients can relate to. Once we can get them to come along to any of our sessions we can introduce trusted partner agencies which can really benefit the clients. We have a vast array of partners that support our men, women and children that come to our sessions e.g. health professionals giving diabetes, std, heart health and mental health advice and medication. Our partner organisations can give practical housing and financial skills advice. We bring different partners to our match days and urge our players to engage with the various services that we bring along. Check out our match day themes for 2018 here, we offer practical advice and support at the match days.
