About LHFC

More Than Just Football

Liverpool Homeless Football Club (LHFC) is a registered charity that has been working successfully across the regional and national homeless sector since 2007.

We use the power of sport – particularly football – to engage, support, and empower men and women across Merseyside who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Through sport, we create opportunities for connection, confidence, and change.

Our Core Services

At the heart of LHFC is the delivery of free, year-round sporting activities that are accessible, inclusive, and safe. These sessions provide a supportive environment where participants can improve both their physical and mental wellbeing, while becoming part of a positive and welcoming community.

One of our main social aims is to enhance wellbeing helping individuals to rebuild trust, develop resilience, and take positive steps forward in their lives.

Our Pathway of Support

LHFC has developed a clear pathway to help players move towards independent living, focusing on three key development areas:

  1.  Health & Wellbeing – promoting physical fitness, mental health, and emotional resilience.

  2.  Training & Employment – offering routes into skills development, education, and job opportunities.

  3.  Volunteering & Community – building confidence, social connections, and a sense of belonging.

We work closely with each participant to identify their individual needs and help them find the right pathway — whether that’s continuing with sport, joining wellbeing sessions, accessing training, or being signposted to specialist care providers.

Reducing Barriers to Participation

We remove as many barriers as possible to ensure everyone can take part:

  •  Transport provided to events when needed

  •  Free food for all players and staff on matchdays,

  •  Free kits and equipment to encourage participation and equality

Our approach ensures that no one is excluded due to financial or personal challenges.

Our Impact

Through everything we do, LHFC gives people:

  • Increased physical activity

  • Improved mental health and wellbeing

  • A stronger sense of purpose, belonging, and hope

At LHFC, football is MORE THAN JUST FOOTBALL:  it’s a way to change lives, one goal at a time.
