Women's Football Tournaments

Yearly Women's Tournaments

Each year, Liverpool Homeless Football Club proudly hosts a series of women’s football tournaments across the North West. These events are free to enter and bring together women’s teams united by a shared passion for football — and for supporting important causes.

Each tournament focuses on a meaningful theme, such as Women Against Domestic Abuse, the Breast Cancer Awareness Cup, and others throughout the year.

Our events have welcomed inspiring guests including Crissy Rock, Sue Johnson, and Ann O’Byrne, who have shared their personal stories and messages of support before kick-off.

Every player receives a participation medal, while the winning team takes home a trophy to celebrate their success. Individual honours are also awarded for Player of the Tournament and Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Women's Football League 1

Dementia Awareness Cup - 12th April

The first women's tournament of 2026 was our Dementia Awareness Cup. One of our most popular events, women's teams from across the region gathered together to raise awareness around dementia and its causes.

We also wanted to reflect on those who care for a family member or loved one who has dementia. 2/3 of unpaid carers in the UK are women, and by age 60, 1 in 5 women will have provided unpaid care to an elderly friend or relative.

As with all our women's tournaments, there was a fantastic turnout, with each of the 4 ability divisions at maximum capacity. A great gathering of women who came together to share food, play football, and unite under a good cause.

Women Against Domestic Abuse - 5th July

The return of our WADA tournament was particularly relevant this year, as it coincided with the World Cup. Research has shown that there is a huge increase in domestic violence during international football tournaments, with one study showing a 38% increase after an England loss, and a 26% increase after a win.

Long time supporters Ann O'Byrne and Crissy Rock made an appearance, speaking to attendees, handing out medals, and sharing their own experiences.

Feedback for this event was particularly positive, with many teams reaching out to thank LHFC for the event and the way it was organised.
